I'm curious; what do you do?
Are you a marriage coach?
A wellness coach?
An innate health coach?
I believe you are an expert in your field.
And.
Let's not forget
You are a Coach.
What does that mean?
How do you affect outcome as a coach?
Behind the scenes of above question;
Client is simply not moving forward. Did not get desired result.
Coach is left wondering,
"Maybe I'm not a great coach after all"
And then,
"Does the outcome of my coaching entirely fall under my responsibility?"
Does it?
As an accredited ICF (International Federation Coach), I understand that my role as a coach is to help the client help themselves.
My role as a coach is to guide, support and encourage. And sometimes challenge.
My role is to ensure you (client) stay focused on your goal.
My client's role is the agenda - where he/she wants to go.
Client's role is the outcome.
I contract this into my coaching at the beginning of each and every session. So that we are each clear of our roles in the coaching relationship.
Why do some clients move on and others don't? As a coach yourself, I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. Leave me a comment and let's talk about this.
In any case let's continue to be the responsible coaches that we are; responsible for helping the client help herself.
How do we do this?
Stay tuned as we talk about the core skills and competencies that help the client make real shifts towards her goals.
I hope you got value out of this piece; if you did, you can let me know - or if you have any coaching topics you'd like to explore, send me comments. I'd love to hear from you.
